The Instrument Manufactory
Sir Patrick was also a solo musician: a challenger in the competitive circuit of the Highland bagpipes. He was taught by Duncan Johnstone, Donald MacLeod, and John Burgess OBE – some of the greatest figures in the history of piping.
After having completed his Law degree, Sir Patrick determined not to practice but instead to acquire a small bagpipe manufactory in the 1970s in order to fulfil his vision of crafting exceptional musical instruments.
He worked at this for over a decade, developing and perfecting the craft skills and precision-engineering capabilities of his company, exporting to markets from North America to Oceania, Europe and the Gulf States.
