The Iconic Dalvey Flask
- a lifelong companion

The iconic Dalvey Flask sits at the heart of our range. Three decades ago the flask
initiated our transition from a musical instrument manufactory to the design-led
men’s accessories brand that we are today.

Director

Still manufactured to the same design, today’s Dalvey Flasks are plasma-welded, and incorporate deep-engraved badges to give unparalleled richness and clarity, while the range has expanded to incorporate designs that house exquisitely detailed compasses and ingenious telescopic cups.

Emerging from our heritage as a manufacturer of Highland bagpipes, the Dalvey flask was originally conceived to be held in a sporran - the decorative pouch worn with traditional Highland dress. It soon prove to have a much broader appeal, and has been enjoyed around the world. We knew we were onto something when we heard - back in the early nineties - that the Emperor of Japan had gotten hold of one.

A constant and comforting companion

An ideal travelling companion, a Dalvey Flask accompanied David Grant and his family on their epic seven-year voyage to circumnavigate the world in a horse-drawn cart (detailed in the book, The Seven Year Hitch: A Family Odyssey). Michael Palin was seen pensively imbibing from his Dalvey Flask on his ‘Pole to Pole’ journey.

Owner and MD of Dalvey, Sir Patrick Grant, atop the Matterhorn - about to enjoy a well deserved dram from his dependable Dalvey flask.

ALASDAIR MÓR GRANT The Chief of Grants Champion

Dalvey is a family company, owned and run by Sir Patrick Grant and his sons, Neil and Duncan.

The historic territory of Clan Grant is Strathspey: our motto, “Stand Fast, Craigellachie”, makes reference to the mountain that looms over much of the strath, and from which great fires were lit to muster clansmen for battle. In fact our name, Dalvey, refers to the territory owned by our branch of the clan back in the 17th century.

| the water of life

Strathspey is also home to the greatest concentration of whisky distilleries in all of Scotland, from the venerable Macallan to the globally best-selling Glenlivet and Glenfiddich.

The great heritage of Highland Single Malt Whisky
lay at the heart of the flask’s inspiration. Of course people fill their flasks with whatever their favourite tipple happens to be, but at heart the Dalvey Flask was developed by and for connoisseurs of uisge beatha (roughly pronounced “ish-ke vah”): the water of life.

The Dalvey Flask  |  Accept no imitations

Engineered in mirror-polished stainless steel, the Dalvey Flask is the ultimate hip- flask. The masculine, almost industrial detail of the knurling on the threaded lid, the undulation of the neck, the satisfying convexity of its curves… These are design elements that continue to inspire our team, and echoes of which can be found across much of the range.

Personalise

Mark a special occassion with a personal engraved message for a heartfelt gesture that endures.

A Dalvey Flask makes a perfect gift, and can be engraved with initials, dates, a message, or even a motif.

The Perfect Gift...

Eminently suitable for birthdays, Christmas, Father’s Day, graduations and retirements, they’re particularly popular for weddings, and make perfect gifts for a groomsman’s party. There can be little more reassuring on the big day than sharing a ceremonial dram with the guys upon whom you’ve chosen to depend for the smooth-running of the wedding.
